BARBARA WEISSBERGER made an editioned photographic print of a collage formation created from everyday materials. Created for the CSA 2014 full share.
Weissberger's images grow out of improvisation and the pleasure of working with materials. Play is central to her process. The writer Sherrie Flick described the idiosyncratic mix of elements in her work as "stacked and wrapped - harmoniously, improbably, united in their disparity." Her work has been shown at such venues as PS1/MoMA, DUMBO Art Center, and White Columns in New York, as well as at numerous other galleries and museums across the nation. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, and has been a resident artist at the Carmago Foundation (France), the Hambridge Center, Oberpfalzer Kunstlerhaus (Germany), the MacDowell Colony, as well as Yaddo and Ucross Foundation. She divides her time between Pittsburgh and New York.
